A supplier may require a minimum total order value while individual products follow carton or inner-pack quantities. Shade-based products can add another layer when each color has a minimum or fixed assortment.
Ask for the unit quantity, inner pack, outer carton, mixed-shade rules, total order requirement, and whether different brands can be consolidated. These figures affect both cash flow and warehouse space.
OEM and ODM use different minimums
Private-label projects can have separate minimums for bulk formula, primary packaging, printing, decoration, and outer boxes. A factory may allow an existing formula at a lower quantity than a fully custom development.
Before comparing OEM quotations, make sure they cover the same formula status, package specification, decoration method, testing scope, and production quantity.
Use MOQ to shape the first assortment
A first order does not need to cover every available product. Concentrate quantity in items with the clearest role, then use smaller compatible additions where commercial terms allow.
The objective is not always the lowest possible MOQ. Reliable replenishment, acceptable landed cost, and a coherent assortment can be more valuable than minimizing every line.
